Three-dimensional adhesive contact analysis between a tilted rigid flat-end cylindrical punch and an elastic film

This study presents a three-dimensional analysis of adhesive contact between a rigid flat-ended cylindrical punch and an elastic film subjected to eccentric loading-induced tilting. A semi-analytical approach combining the conjugate gradient method and the discrete convolution-fast Fourier transform algorithm is adopted to solve the adhesive contact problem with a Dugdale-type cohesive zone model. The proposed framework enables the evolution of contact configuration, interfacial traction, and separation behavior to be accurately characterized during loading and unloading processes. Systematic parametric analyses are performed to elucidate the effects of film thickness, loading eccentricity, and adhesion strength on the adhesive contact response under tilting. The results reveal that eccentric loading-induced tilting leads to asymmetric contact evolution and localized variations in interfacial traction, which significantly alter the unloading and separation processes. Moreover, geometric and interfacial parameters affect the separation characteristics and mechanisms in different ways. This work quantitatively reveals the coupled mechanisms of structural geometry and interfacial adhesion in three-dimensional tilted contact systems.
