ACHIEVING PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT IN THE ERA OF SUPPLY CHAIN DIGITALIZATION: EMPIRICAL STUDY FROM THE JORDANIAN HEALTH SECTOR

This research aims to study the relationship between Supply Chain Digitalization and the organizational performance within the Jordanian healthcare sector, where the mediating role of Supply Chain integration and the moderating role of Technological turbulence will be discussed. The study adopted descriptive analytical research, which is a quantitative type of research. A stratified random sampling method was implemented to determine 200 employees from the public and private hospitals within Jordan to be included in the sample. In order to investigate the study variables, a structured questionnaire was used; the scales in the questionnaires were already validated. To investigate the hypothesized direct, mediating, and moderating relationships, structural equation modeling (SEM) was then performed with the software program called SmartPLS. Results indicated that the effect of supply chain digitalization on supply chain integration is significant, while the effect is also significant on organizational performance. Moreover, the relationship between supply chain digitalization and organizational performance was partially mediated by supply chain integration, indicating that supply chain digitalization has a direct relationship with organizational performance as well as through supply chain integration. The results also revealed a significant moderating role of technological turbulence, where a higher level of technological turbulence enhanced the relationships among supply chain digitalization, supply chain integration, and organizational performance. The results highlighted the relevance of SC-D and SC-I to improve the organizational performance, especially in Technologically-Dynamic Environments. The study adds to the literature in terms of presenting empirical evidence about the relationship between supply chain digitalization, supply chain integration, and technological turbulence and organizational performance in the healthcare industry. In practice, the findings should inform the hospital administration and policymakers on the significance of digital capability development and supply chain integration to increase hospital performance when facing technological turbulence of different degrees.
