Clinical characteristics and outcomes of bromadiolone poisoning in Vietnam: A retrospective study
Bromadiolone is a long-acting anticoagulant rodenticide which may cause prolonged coagulopathy and serious bleeding. Clinical data from Southeast Asia remain limited. This retrospective study included adults with confirmed bromadiolone poisoning admitted to the Emergency Center of Thai Nguyen Medical University Hospital, Vietnam, between February 2021 and August 2024. Clinical characteristics, laboratory findings, treatment and outcomes were reviewed. Severe outcome was defined as major bleeding, international normalised ratio (INR) ≥5, blood product transfusion or death. Delayed presentation and marked coagulopathy were associated with severe clinical outcomes. Early diagnosis, prompt vitamin K therapy and close INR monitoring remain essential for improving outcomes.
