QUALIDADE DOS ELEMENTOS URBANOS NOS CONJUNTOS HABITACIONAIS DO PROGRAMA MINHA CASA MINHA VIDA EM TIMON,MARANHÃO

This article aims to analyze the quality of the urban elements of the housing complexes under the Minha Casa Minha Vida Program (PMCMV) in the city of Timon, Maranhão. Its methodological approach is qualitative, descriptive, and comparative, involving a literature review on platforms such as Google Scholar and the CAPES Portal, as well as presenting part of the results from a master’s thesis on the production and reproduction of urban space in Timon. After analyzing the results, it was concluded that the demand for urban elements in PMCMV housing complexes does not meet the needs of a significant portion of Timon’s population. Notable issues range from the low quality of these elements to the complete absence of some of them, reflecting a pattern of problems marked by difficulty in accessing schools and recreational areas, as well as the lack of universal access to basic sanitation and public safety services, in addition to problems related to urban mobility, demonstrating the need for government officials to rethink quality of life through the lens of housing policies and programs aimed at the low-income population, such as the PMCMV.
