LOS ESTADOS UNIDOS DE EUROPA

This essay examines the possibility of a European federation as an operative configuration of collective subjects. It argues that Europe cannot limit itself to gestures of decline nor to dogmas of paralysis or blind acceleration. It must articulate active conformations —obverse and reverse— capable of raising thought above the passionate, cultivating culture as a supreme good and conquering civil firmness. Only thus may it operate upon the world with lucidity and dignity, avoiding both the end of history and creation from nothing. True modernization demands conjugated operations of a subject that refuses to abdicatE.
