Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Melalui Teknologi Biopori Untuk Pengelolaan Sampah Organik Dan Pelestarian Lingkungan Berkelanjutan Di Desa Cisayong, Kabupaten Tasikmalaya
Organic waste accounts for roughly 60% of household waste in Indonesia, yet it is rarely managed at the source, which contributes to flooding, landfill overload, methane emissions, and groundwater pollution. This community service activity aimed to improve the understanding of village officials and community leaders about organic waste management using biopori infiltration holes. The activity was held on 20 August 2026 at Kampung Babakan Jambu, Cisayong Village, Tasikmalaya Regency, and was attended by village government officials, neighbourhood (RT) and community (RW) heads, religious leaders, and community figures. The method used was participatory education consisting of a presentation and discussion covering the definition of organic waste, management principles, the impacts of unmanaged waste, the benefits of biopori, tools and materials, construction steps, acceptable and unacceptable waste, and maintenance. The activity introduced biopori as a simple, low-cost technology that functions as both a water infiltration hole and a natural composting site. It is concluded that involving village leaders is a strategic step toward encouraging household-level biopori adoption, which should be followed by hands-on practice, pilot holes, and regular mentoring.
