Pachygyria and “Tigroid” White-matter Pattern in a Treated Case of Congenital Cytomegalovirus Infection
Abstract A 2-year-old girl with treated congenital cytomegalovirus infection presented with focal seizures. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) demonstrated frontal pachygyria and asymmetric “tigroid” white-matter abnormalities. These MRI findings represent delayed manifestation of antenatal cytomegalovirus-related brain injury rather than progressive disease, highlighting the importance of accurate radiologic recognition to avoid misdiagnosis.
