Binary MOF micropatterns enabling spatially defined dual dye encapsulation

We report a patterning strategy that combines X-ray lithography with ceramic-to-MOF conversion for the fabrication of binary metal-organic framework (MOF) micropatterns composed of the pillar-layered MOF Cu 2 (BDC 0.5 (Br 2 BDC) 0.5 ) 2 DABCO and HKUST-1. The fabrication protocol enables spatially controlled integration of two MOF phases within defined microscale architectures. Further, the selective encapsulation of distinct fluorescent dyes within each MOF results in micropatterns exhibiting localized dual-wavelength emission. This work establishes a platform for the design of multifunctional MOF-based micropatterns with spatially programmable optical properties.
