The Interrelation of Demographic Dynamics and Family Strategies in the Transformation of the Household Structure of Russian Society

The article reveals the interrelation between demographic dynamics and family strategies in the transformation of the household structure of Russian society. The object-matter of the analysis focuses on fertility, marriage rate, divorce rate, household composition, intergenerational support, and the resource vulnerability of family groups. The aim of the research is to construct a review-based analytical pattern for the mutual influence of demographic processes and family transformations. The material consists of Russian-language studies published in 2023–2025 and selected according to their thematic relevance to family structure, marital behaviour, reproductive preferences, households, and family-demographic policy. The author uses a comparative analysis, classification, generalization, and logical-analytical reconstruction of causal links. The results identify three channels of cross influence: delayed marriage rate and reproductive decisions; divorce and readiness for subsequent births; change in household composition and redistribution of responsibilities between the family members, the state, and social institutions. The practical applicability of the results is associated with family-demographic policy targeted measures that take into account education, region, housing conditions, employment, and household composition.
