Reconstructing Actions by Solving Compatibility Conditions for Unknown Multipliers

Abstract We study the reconstruction of an action from supplied equations by treating their multipliers as unknowns. The calculation has two versions: ordinary mixed partial derivatives at finite nodes, and mixed functional derivatives of continuous fields. In each version, all compatibility conditions are checked on the proposed equation combinations before integration; an equivalence check excludes combinations that lose equations, and integration then supplies a common primitive. Taylor expansion specifies consistency of a discrete rule; it does not establish its variationality. We work through Newtonian and relativistic mechanics, a complex Schrödinger field, Maxwell evolution, vacuum general relativity with a cosmological constant, and a declared Standard Model field system. Each calculation states its search class before solving. The Schrödinger result is a complex functional coupling reflected times, and the Maxwell result requires the initial Gauss constraints for recovery of the full system. The gravitational density and the relative Standard Model pairings are determined continuously. These are explicit applications of the inverse variational framework, with chosen inputs, solved coefficients, and recovery claims distinguished throughout.
