At the BiblioCon 2026 in Berlin, we presented “Scientific Information Literacy”, a semester-long course offered by the University Library Zurich for students in the life sciences. This annual course teaches key concepts of scientific information literacy, addresses current developments such as generative artificial intelligence, and combines a variety of teaching and assessment formats. Using this course as an example, we suggest that liaison librarianship can contribute to the development of library-led educational offerings in close collaboration with the faculties of the university and support their long-term integration into curricula.

Abstract

At the BiblioCon 2026 in Berlin, we presented “Scientific Information Literacy”, a semester-long course offered by the University Library Zurich for students in the life sciences. Using this course as an example, we suggest that liaison librarianship can contribute to the development of library-led educational offerings in close collaboration with the faculties of the university and support their long-term integration into curricula.
