Divergent Total Synthesis of Bioactive Dihydrophenanthrenes via Palladium-Catalyzed Cross-Coupling: A Sustainable Chemical Source for Characteristic Components from Rare and Endangered Medicinal Plants
Abstract The pharmacological development of bioactive dihydrophenanthrenes is severely constrained by their scarcity in endangered plants. Herein, we report a scalable Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling strategy for the divergent total synthesis of eight dihydrophenanthrene natural products. This approach efficiently constructs unsymmetrical biaryl scaffolds, overcoming the symmetry constraints of prior methods, and establishes a practical platform for securing chemical access to valuable Orchidaceae and Juncaceae components.
