Frame alignment in Afghanistan: an English School approach to visual modelling of social movement framing
Frame theory provides a valuable lens for interpreting how sociopolitical discourse seeks to influence group identity and behavior. Its practical applications should be considered beyond just academic purposes, though. This article will briefly illustrate how frame theory can be used to examine ideological discourse in conflict with a case study on Afghanistan. Other theoretical methods are used to complement frame theory in this approach, leading to a multimethod analysis that is explained using a visual modelling diagram. The visual model is highlighted for its practical ability to simplify discussions regarding the alignment of social movement frames while also providing a way to apply frame theory to policy analysis or conflict mitigation.
