DEVELOPMENT OF A CLASSIFICATION OF OIL SPILLS IN THE SOUTHEASTERN BALTIC BY POLLUTION AREA

The paper presents a classification of oil pollution in the southeastern part of the Baltic Sea, developed on the basis of an analysis of oil slick areas based on satellite radar images. Information processing was performed using the Pisces 2 geoinformation system, which provided high-precision georeference, automated area calculation and visualization of spatial data. In the course of the study, an extensive database of pollution areas was formed, covering the Russian, Polish and Lithuanian sectors of the southeastern Baltic Sea. For statistical processing, the Statistica software was used using histograms, span diagrams, Shapiro–Wilk, Kolmogorov–Smirnov and Lilliefors tests, as well as the calculation of descriptive statistics. The developed classification makes it possible to increase the accuracy of assessing the scale of environmental impacts, identify high-risk areas and optimize response measures to environmental pollution by petroleum products.

The developed classification makes it possible to increase the accuracy of assessing the scale of environmental impacts, identify high-risk areas and optimize response measures to environmental pollution by petroleum products.
