Antroscelio Kieffer (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae): Out of Oblivion
Antroscelio Kieffer is a monobasic genus that was described alongside its type species, A. lucifugax Kieffer, in 1913. The description of A. lucifugax was based on a single male specimen collected in northern Tanzania the year prior, 1912. No additional material of this species is known to have been collected in the rest of the 20th century, and to date, little could be done to analyze this taxon or its relationship to other scelionids. The recent discovery of four female specimens, collected in Kenya and Ivory Coast, has stimulated treatment of this enigmatic wasp. We here redescribe A. lucifugax and discuss its affinities within Scelionidae.
