Digital Twins: Legal Foundations and Their Impact on the Transformation of Civil Circulation

In the context of the rapid development of information and telecommunication technologies and the digital transformation of all spheres of society, the scientific and legal community is increasingly turning to the phenomenon of the “digital twin.” This article examines the legal foundations of digital twins in the context of the transformation of civil circulation in the digitalization of economic relations. It is noted that Russian legal science has not developed a unified approach to defining the concept of a digital twin and its place in the system of objects of civil rights. The authors conclude that it is necessary to establish a legal definition of a digital twin, differentiate it depending on the scope of application, and determine the legal status of a digital twin in the system of objects of civil rights.
