Single Step Border Molding Technique for Complete Denture Fabrication in a Completely Edentulous Patient: A Case Report
AbstractIntroduction: Border molding is a critical step in complete denture fabrication that determines the extent and contour of the denture base, directly influencing retention, stability, and peripheral seal. Although sectional border molding with low-fusing compound remains widely taught, the single step (simultaneous) technique using elastomeric impression material has gained popularity for its reduced chairside time and fewer tray insertions. Case Report: This report describes the prosthodontic rehabilitation of a [age] year old [male/female] completely edentulous patient using a single step border molding technique with medium body consistency elastomeric impression material for both the maxillary and mandibular arches. Custom trays were border molded in a single clinical visit, followed by a wash impression, jaw relation records, trial denture insertion, and definitive denture delivery. Conclusion: The single step border molding technique provided an accurate, functionally generated impression with satisfactory retention, stability, and esthetic outcome, while reducing the number of patient visits and overall chairside time compared with the conventional sectional technique.
