Islamic Parenting Based on Maqāṣid al-Syarī‘ah in the Global Digital Era
The advancement of digital technology presents challenges for Muslim families in shaping character, upholding religious values, and preparing children for social change. This study aims to analyze and develop a Maqāṣid al-Syarī'ah -based Islamic parenting model as a holistic parenting approach for the digital era. A qualitative approach was employed, utilizing a literature review of scholarly works on Islamic parenting, Maqāṣid al-Syarī'ah, character education, digital literacy, and family resilience. Data were analyzed thematically through the identification, categorization, and synthesis of concepts. The findings indicate that the protection of religion, life, intellect, lineage, and property can serve as a parenting foundation that integrates religious character building with the development of digital literacy, critical thinking, adaptability, and family resilience. Family communication grounded in maqashid values plays a crucial role in internalizing values and guiding children as they navigate the digital environment. The study concludes that Maqāṣid al-Syarī'ah-based Islamic parenting offers a conceptual model that bridges the objectives of Sharia, character formation, and the competencies required by the Muslim generation in the digital era.
