Preliminary results on hydro-chemo-mechanical response of Wharton's jelly undergoing tension

Stress, transverse stretches and volume changes determinationUsing OpenCV Python library and recorded frames, contour tracking extracted tested length (l), mean width (w) and thickness (th), and cross-section (cs).Sample volume, V, was calculated from front-side frame contour intersections.Imposed stretch (λ 1 = l/l 0 ), transverse stretches (λ 2 = w/w 0 , λ 3 = th/th 0 ), volume change (J = V/V 0 ), and first Piola-Kirchhoff stress (PK1 = F/cs 0 ), were computed (subscript 0 denotes the reference configuration and F the recorded force).

Abstract

Stress, transverse stretches and volume changes determinationUsing OpenCV Python library and recorded frames, contour tracking extracted tested length (l), mean width (w) and thickness (th), and cross-section (cs).Sample volume, V, was calculated from front-side frame contour intersections.Imposed stretch (λ 1 = l/l 0 ), transverse stretches (λ 2 = w/w 0 , λ 3 = th/th 0 ), volume change (J = V/V 0 ), and first Piola-Kirchhoff stress (PK1 = F/cs 0 ), were computed (subscript 0 denotes the reference configuration and F the recorded force).
