Pengembangan Bahan Ajar PKn Berbasis Lingkungan untuk Meningkatkan Kesadaran Lingkungan Siswa Sekolah Dasar
This community service program aimed to strengthen teachers’ capacity to develop and implement environmentally based Civic Education learning materials for primary schools. The partners were teachers affiliated with the School Principals Working Group (K3S) in Karangpandan District, Karanganyar Regency. Their main challenges included limited learning materials integrating environmental issues, insufficient use of engaging instructional strategies, and difficulty connecting Civic Education content with pupils’ daily experiences. The program adopted participatory and dialogic approaches through orientation, participatory lectures, discussions, instructional-material design practice, teaching simulations, mentoring, and evaluation. The implementation showed active participant engagement in identifying local environmental issues and preparing draft modules or handouts, student worksheets, simple learning media, and assessment instruments. Group work and direct mentoring enabled teachers to transform issues such as waste, school cleanliness, water conservation, and single-use plastics into meaningful civic-learning contexts. The program produced more contextual teaching-material drafts and strengthened teachers’ readiness to cultivate responsibility, discipline, mutual cooperation, and environmental awareness through Civic Education.
