Fenomena Pergaulan Bebas dan Dampaknya terhadap Masa Depan Kaum Muda: Perspektif Seksualitas Kristiani
This article examines the phenomenon of promiscuous sexual behavior among young people and its implications for their future from the perspective of Christian sexuality. The study aims to identify the main factors associated with risky sexual behavior, describe its potential effects on the physical, psychological, social, educational, and spiritual dimensions of young people's lives, and formulate a Christian pastoral response. The research uses a qualitative literature review approach by examining recent Indonesian studies on adolescent sexual behavior, social media, pornography exposure, family roles, sexual education, and adolescent religiosity, complemented by official Catholic documents on youth, love, sexuality, and family. The review indicates that adolescent sexual behavior is shaped by interacting factors, including peer influence, digital media exposure, insufficient sexual knowledge, family communication, self-control, and the social environment. The impact is not limited to immediate health risks but may also affect educational continuity, relationships, self-understanding, and the capacity to build responsible commitments. From the Christian perspective, sexuality is not reduced to biological desire but understood in relation to human dignity, love, self-giving, responsibility, self-control, and openness to life. Therefore, prevention requires more than prohibition: young people need age-appropriate education, critical digital literacy, supportive family communication, faith formation, and pastoral accompaniment that respects their dignity and promotes mature freedom.
