VIREON: An integrated desktop suite unifying genetic-circuit design, CRISPR guide selection, metabolic modeling and whole-cell simulation for synthetic biology
Modern synthetic and cellular biology workflows are fragmented across many specialised tools: one program to design genetic circuits, another to pick CRISPR guide RNAs, a third to model metabolism, and yet others for whole-cell design and molecular-biology bookkeeping. Moving a single biological question between these tools is slow and error-prone. We present VIREON, a free cross-platform desktop application that unifies five of these activities — a visual genetic-circuit Constructor, a CRISPR guide-RNA designer, a COPASI-style Metabolism workbench, a Synthetic-organism (whole-cell) designer, and a Molecular-biology toolkit — behind a single, point-and-click interface, with a disease-oriented front end linking genes, proteins and pathways. VIREON runs on Windows and macOS as a standalone application requiring no programming, and from source on any system with Python. It is intended as a "single window" for early-stage design and teaching. Available at https://github.com/a40585357-wq/VIREON
