Measuring Dynamic Intelligence: Separating Static and Dynamic Intelligence via a Post-IQ Blank-Paper Task
We propose a framework that separates intelligence into static intelligence (the ability to solve problems with answers in non-chaotic environments), represented by IQ, and dynamic intelli- gence (the ability to engage with answerless problems in chaotic situations), denoted T. Total intelligence is defined as W = IQ + T, and T is operationalized via a 3-minute blank-A4-paper task as T = (e N − 1)/A, where N is the number of distinct domains used and A is the remain- ing blank area. The ratio T /IQ enables IQ-independent classification into dynamic-dominant (T /IQ > 1), critical (T /IQ ≈ 1), and static-dominant (T /IQ < 1) profiles. We further propose a post-IQ blank-paper task, in which the blank-paper task is administered after an IQ test to de- plete cognitive resources, thereby dissociating reliance on IQ versus T under fatigue. We predict that IQ-dependent individuals show reduced T after fatigue, whereas T-dependent individuals maintain T. The index may capture creativity in low-IQ individuals that IQ tests fail to detect.
