Beyond the glass: testing visitor effects on the behavior of teleost fish in public aquaria
This repository contains the R script and supporting dataset associated with the study: "Beyond the glass: testing visitor effects on the behavior of teleost fish in public aquaria". This research evaluates how visitor presence, total facility frequentation, and specific human behaviors (such as tapping on glass) influence the behavioral repertoires (including aggression, stress-coping, exploration, feeding, and inactivity) of 13 teleost fish species housed in the "La Nouvelle-Calédonie" exhibit at the Aquarium de Lyon. Repository Contents R_script_etho.R: The complete, documented R script used for data cleaning, aggregation of state and point behaviors, calculation of spatial switches, UMAP ordination analysis, multivariate generalized linear modeling (manyglm), and heatmap visualizations. tab_final_aquarium.csv: The raw behavioral observation dataset collected via video tracking across varying visitor conditions.
