The structural impossibility of magnetic monopoles
For nearly half a century, Grand Unified Theories (GUTs) and String Theory have predicted the existence of magnetic monopoles as a necessary topological consequence of symmetry breaking. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and dedicated monopole detectors have found exactly zero. We argue that this empirical null result is not a failure of detector sensitivity, but a structural necessity. Using the Category Error Detector (CED) and the geometry of Structural Rationalism, we show that the assumption of magnetic monopoles arises from a collapsed axis in the GUT framework. The U(1) electromagnetic symmetry is not a leftover fragment of a broken larger group; it is a fundamental invariant phase of the projection. We demonstrate that an invariant phase cannot be topologically knotted without collapsing the projection itself. The absence of magnetic monopoles is a direct structural proof of the two-axis geometry of reality.
