Artificial Intelligence and Drone Patrol Implementation in Relation to Perceived Traffic Violation Reduction in Surabaya

Purpose - This study investigated the relationships of artificial intelligence (AI) utilization and drone patrol implementation with perceived traffic violation reduction in Surabaya, Indonesia. Design/methods/approach – A quantitative explanatory survey was analyzed using multiple linear regression in SPSS 25. The reported analyses contained 77 questionnaire records from personnel associated with the Surabaya City Police Traffic Unit. Findings – AI utilization (B = 0.424, β = 0.450, p < 0.001) and drone patrol implementation (B = 0.280, β = 0.334, p = 0.002) were positively associated with perceived traffic violation reduction. The model was significant, F(2, 74) = 36.065, p < 0.001, with R² = 0.494. Research implications/limitations – The results identify associations among respondents’ assessments, not observed changes in recorded violations. Operational evaluation should combine survey evidence with documented enforcement and road-safety outcomes. Originality/value – The study considers intelligent monitoring and mobile aerial patrols together in a specific urban policing setting while distinguishing perceived benefits from demonstrated causal effectiveness.
