European integration of Ukrainian piano music: Challenges and opportunities

The article aimed to identify key mechanisms, challenges and opportunities for the integration of Ukrainian piano repertoire into European concert and institutional practices. The research methodology was based on a qualitative design that combines semi-structured expert interviews with pianists, curators of concert institutions and musicologists (n = 15) with content analysis of concert programs and posters. The results of the study demonstrate the dominance of the symbolic model of integration of Ukrainian piano music, which is implemented mainly through one-time, thematically or contextually marked events. Structural integration, which is associated with the regularity of performance, the repetitiveness of programming and inclusion in educational and competitive practices, has so far been fragmented. The conclusions emphasize the delineation of the directions of transition from event representation to long-term repertoire strategies.
