Development of an attitude scale regarding the use of mind and intelligence games in primary schools

The aim of this study was to develop an attitude scale regarding the use of mind and intelligence games in primary schools. A survey design, one of the quantitative research methods, was employed in the study. The sample consisted of class teachers working in various provinces of Turkey during the 2024–2025 academic year, selected via convenience sampling. A total of 723 class teachers were included in the sample: 424 for the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) stage and 299 for the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) stage, the latter comprising a different sample from that used in the EFA. An item pool appropriate for the study’s objective was created, and expert opinion was sought to ensure content validity. At the conclusion of the EFA, a 20-item scale comprising three subdimensions was obtained. The subdimensions of the scale were named ‘Use Value’, ‘Motivation for Use’ and ‘Use Resistance’. These three subdimensions account for 71.493% of the total variance. The model’s fit indices were examined via CFA, which revealed that the goodness-of-fit values weregood and that the model was validated. Furthermore, the scale demonstrated strong convergent and discriminant validity, along with high internal consistency. To assess the reliability of the scale, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, item‒total correlations, and the results of independent samples t tests comparing the mean scores of the upper and lower 27% groups were analysed. The findings indicated that the scale is highly reliable and possesses strong discriminant validity. Consequently, a valid and reliable measurement instrument has been developed.
