Impact of Online Learning Among Fourth Year Medical Students of a Private University and Their Readiness to Participate in Hospital Practice

Given the limitations of virtual learning in replicating in-person clinical experiences, there is concern about the adequacy of preparation for students beginning hospital clinical shifts. A cross-sectional study design was used to assess the work-readiness of fourth-year medical students (medical clerks) of a university in hospital practice. A validated Work Readiness Scale (WRS) consisting of 53 items was used as a diagnostic tool in screening participants. Descriptive statistics showed a mean of 170, and most respondents scored below average, indicating a need for curriculum enhancement to support students’ preparedness for clinical practice. Keywords: Online learning, work readiness, medical clerks
