Spherically symmetric Einstein--scalar initial data with a negative-potential core, an exactly flat exterior and vanishing ADM charges

We consider the Einstein equations coupled to a minimally coupled real scalar field with a smooth potential V satisfying V(0) = 0 and V′(0) = 0, and a value φ* > 0 for which V(φ*) < 0. For a smooth, monotone interpolating profile Φ and an explicit quantitative condition (T) on the potential over the interval [0, φ*], we construct smooth, non-trivial, spherically symmetric, time-symmetric initial data on ℝ³ satisfying both Einstein constraint equations. The data coincide exactly with the Minkowski vacuum initial data (δ, 0, 0, 0) outside a compact ball, have the constant field value φ* on a central ball where the energy density is ρ = V(φ*) < 0, and have vanishing ADM energy and standard asymptotic surface-integral charges. Condition (T) is ν* > 7 exp(c) V⁺_max, where ν* = −V(φ*), c = ½ ∫₀² s[Φ′(s)]² ds, and V⁺max = max(0, max{φ ∈ [0, φ*]} V(φ)). In areal gauge, the Hamiltonian constraint reduces, after rescaling, to a linear ordinary differential equation for N(s) = s − 2μ(s). The zero-ADM-mass condition becomes an affine equation in the square of a length scale, with a unique positive solution under condition (T). The result is a conditional initial-data existence theorem. It makes no claim about the subsequent evolution of the data, the physical admissibility of the matter model, the existence of a functioning warp drive, or potentials outside the stated hypotheses.
