Efficient practices of azoximer bromide application in the treatment of immune-mediated diseases: herpesvirus infection in focus

The high prevalence of chronic herpesvirus infection (CHI) in the general population is largely attributable to deficiencies in early detection, delayed diagnosis, insufficient understanding of the pathology’s pathogenetic mechanisms, and, consequently, limitations of current therapeutic protocols. The phenomenon of prolonged persistence of the herpes simplex virus (HSV) in the host organism initiates suppression of the immune status and disintegration of cooperation between various components of antiviral defense. In this context, CHI should be regarded as an immune-mediated disease, which substantiates the necessity of incorporating immunomodulatory agents into management algorithms for this patient cohort. This approach represents a pathogenetically grounded method for optimizing therapeutic outcomes.
