Electronic Information System Innovation Mediating Employee Competence And Adaptability Toward Performance

General Background The healthcare sector requires sustained operational efficiency and high employee performance to maintain patient service quality amid globalization. Specific Background Employee capabilities, specifically individual competence and adaptability, determine the success of hospital operations and service delivery. Knowledge Gap While previous studies explore technological adoption, the integrated mediating function of an Electronic Information System between individual capabilities and employee performance remains empirically unverified in hospital environments. Aims This research investigates the mediating position of an Electronic Information System concerning the relationship between employee competence, adaptability, and performance at Hospital X. Results Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling analysis of 79 employees reveals that competence and adaptability positively determine both the Electronic Information System utilization and overall employee performance. Furthermore, the Electronic Information System successfully mediates these relationships, displaying a stronger mediation pathway for adaptability, while the overall model explains 72.9% of performance variance. Novelty This study pioneers an integrated evaluation establishing the Electronic Information System as a crucial mediator that translates human adaptability and competence into tangible hospital performance. Implications Hospital management must synchronize technical training with system reliability improvements to accommodate technological transitions and sustain long-term operational excellence. Highlights Structural equation modeling explains a substantial proportion of staff output variance. Workplace flexibility shows a stronger indirect connection to work results through digital platforms than technical skills. Healthcare management should prioritize technological reliability and continuous training for sustainable operational excellence. Keywords Electronic Information System; Employee Competence; Technological Adaptability; Hospital Operations; Structural Equation Modeling
