Rejected by Others but Not by Jesus: The Tears of the Woman in Lk 7:36-50
This article explores the meaning of tears in Luke 7:36-50, particularly the tears of the woman who approaches Jesus in the house of Simon the Pharisee. Tears are not mere drops of water; they speak the language of the human soul. They express suffering, prayer, faith, love, gratitude, and hope. The woman, rejected and judged by others, approaches Jesus with tears and receives acceptance, forgiveness, dignity, and peace. Her tears challenge social and religious exclusion and reveal the compassionate God who listens to the suffering and restores the marginalised.
