Thermal Radiation of Metals

The explanation of thermal radiation from bodies was unsuccessful and incomplete until 1900, when Max Planck established that thermal radiation corresponds to a physical model in which energy radiation occurs in the process of a flow of discrete energy portions (quanta). However, the view remains that the properties of radiation from an absolutely black body are unique and do not depend on the material of the body. This prompts us to verify whether additional evidence has not accumulated over the past 125 years on the origin of the properties of thermal radiation.

Abstract

The explanation of thermal radiation from bodies was unsuccessful and incomplete until 1900, when Max Planck established that thermal radiation corresponds to a physical model in which energy radiation occurs in the process of a flow of discrete energy portions (quanta). However, the view remains that the properties of radiation from an absolutely black body are unique and do not depend on the material of the body. This prompts us to verify whether additional evidence has not accumulated over the past 125 years on the origin of the properties of thermal radiation.
