MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND PHYTOSANITARY SIGNIFICANCE OF DITYLENCHUS NEMATODES IN THE ROOTS AND RHIZOSPHERE OF DOG ROSE
The relationship between morphological characteristics and biological specialization was analyzed to assess the diagnostic features of nematodes of the genus Ditylenchus associated with the roots and rhizosphere soil of dog rose (Rosa canina L.) in the Surkhandarya region. The main focus of the study was to distinguish similar taxa based on the structure of the stylet apparatus, anterior part of the esophagus, lateral lines, reproductive system, and tail tip. Particular attention was paid to the diagnostic interpretation of Ditylenchus dipsaci, Ditylenchus destructor, and Ditylenchus tulaganovi, as these species are mentioned in local faunistic records. It was demonstrated that individuals isolated from roots and soil should not automatically be assessed as equally damaging to plant tissues. The reliability of morphological identification depends on specimen preparation quality, the presence of adult individuals, and the comprehensive assessment of a combination of diagnostic characteristics.
