MoS2-based composites with magnetoelectric synergistic loss for enhanced microwave absorption

Abstract The development of high-performance electromagnetic wave absorbing materials is crucial for addressing electromagnetic interference issues. However, a single loss mechanism often results in unsatisfactory microwave absorption performance. In this study, we report a MoS 2 -based composite material with a magnetoelectric synergistic effect. The hierarchical heterogeneous structure and the synergistic loss of magnetic/electric components enable excellent impedance matching and multiple energy conversions, enhancing the absorption and loss capabilities. The designed microwave absorber achieves an effective absorption bandwidth of 4.36 GHz at a thickness of 1.9 mm. The minimum reflection loss is −58.92 dB. Furthermore, the absorber exhibits a radar cross-section reduction value of up to 28.273 dB·m² in the vertical direction. Additionally, the EAB can be further broadened across the entire 2-18 GHz frequency range through the rational design of gradient metamaterials. This work provides a reference for the subsequent development and application of MoS 2 -based composites with high-efficiency electromagnetic wave absorption properties.
