Effect of Organic Nutrients and Biofertilizers on Growth, Yield and Quality of Leafy Coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.)

A field experiment was conducted during the rabi season of 2024–25 at the Vegetable Research Centre, Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, to assess the effects of organic nutrient sources and biofertilisers on the growth, leaf yield, economic returns and soil properties of leafy coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.). The experiment followed a randomised block design comprising eleven nutrient management treatments and three replications. The treatments included the recommended dose of fertilisers (RDF), farmyard manure, phosphate-solubilising bacteria (PSB), potassium-solubilising bacteria (KSB), nitrogen consortia, EM culture, Bactobooster, Biofertisol and an untreated control. Plant height, leaf length and width, stem diameter, and petiole diameter were recorded at 30, 60 and 90 days after sowing, while leaf yield was assessed across three cuttings. The combination of 75% RDF, PSB, KSB and Bactobooster (T₅) produced the highest reported total leaf yield (116.39 q ha⁻¹), compared with 37.59 q ha⁻¹ in the control. This treatment also recorded the highest gross return (₹200,002.96 ha⁻¹), net return (₹141,913.73 ha⁻¹) and benefit–cost ratio (3.44). Following treatment T₅, available soil nitrogen and potassium were 271.00 and 269.67 kg ha⁻¹, respectively. These findings indicate that combining a reduced fertiliser dose with selected microbial inputs may support leafy coriander production and economic returns under the conditions evaluated.
