Hubungan Kepemimpinan Partisipatif dengan Etos Kerja Tenaga Kependidikan pada Perguruan Tinggi Vokasi
This quantitative correlational study examined the relationship between participative leadership and work ethic among 30 educational support staff at a higher education institution in Medan, Indonesia. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design to determine the strength and direction of the relationship between the two variables. Total sampling was applied, involving all 30 staff members as research respondents. Data were collected using a questionnaire comprising eight five-point Likert-scale items for each variable. Instrument reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha, yielding coefficients of 0.781 for participative leadership and 0.792 for work ethic, indicating acceptable internal consistency. Normality was examined using the Shapiro–Wilk test, which indicated that the participative leadership total score deviated from a normal distribution. Consequently, Spearman’s rank correlation was selected as the primary statistical analysis. The results revealed a positive and statistically significant association between participative leadership and work ethic (ρ = 0.758, p < .001). These findings suggest that higher participative leadership scores tend to accompany higher work ethic scores. However, the results establish an association rather than a causal relationship and should be interpreted cautiously because the study involved one institution and relied on self-reported questionnaire data.
