Is supramalleolar osteotomy a better surgical option for Takakura 3 ankle arthritis: a protocol for system review and meta-analysis
Supramalleolar osteotomy has gained increasing attention in clinical practice for patients with ankle arthritis and has demonstrated certain effectiveness. However, for patients with Takakura 3 ankle arthritis, whether supramalleolar osteotomy is superior to ankle arthrodesis and ankle arthroplasty remains unclear. Therefore, a meta-analysis is essential to determine whether supramalleolar osteotomy is a superior surgical option for Takakura 3 ankle arthritis. We will conduct a comprehensive literature search on PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library, followed by study selection and data extraction. The Cochrane Collaboration Risk of Bias Tool will be applied for randomized controlled trials, and the ROBINS-I tool will be used for non-randomized studies. Statistical analysis will be conducted using RevMan 5.4 software (Cochrane Collaboration, London, England). This systematic review will provide evidence to assess whether supramalleolar osteotomy is a superior surgical option for Takakura 3 ankle arthritis. This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the anatomical and functional outcomes, imaging findings, and postoperative complications in patients with Takakura stage III ankle arthritis undergoing supramalleolar osteotomy, ankle fusion, or ankle replacement. The findings will provide evidence to determine whether supramalleolar osteotomy is a superior surgical option for Takakura 3 ankle arthritis. PROSPERO CRD42024495459. Registered on 01 January 2024.
