Short-term effectiveness of focal Muscle Vibration (fMV) plus exercise on gait in a child with cerebral palsy: a case report.
Abstract: Cerebral palsy (CP) is a nonprogressive and permanent condition that may affect tone, posture, movement and balance with predominant motor impairment. Among different therapies in recently years, focal muscle vibration showed a role in the improving motor function in patients with several neurological conditions, included cerebral palsy. The aim of this case study was to evaluate a personalized protocol of focal muscle vibration associated to a neurocognitive exercise as a treatment to improve gait and motor control in a 12-years old girl with hemiplegia. Evaluation was done using scale and gait analysis that showed an effect on reducing hypertonia, improving range of motion of the treated districts with an associated improved results done with the adjunct of a specific physiotherapy treatment.
