Whole-Field Constitution as Enacted Organization
How do interpreted contributions constitute one current experience rather than merely interact? This theoretical paper develops Shadow Theory’s enacted-scaffolding account of whole-field constitution: within an independently warranted qualifying interpretive unit, the experiencing occurrence is the complete relevant organization actually enacted there. The account rests on three explicit constitutive principles: complete-enactment identity, current incorporation and unit unity. A linked realization witness specifies how reception, interpretation, consolidation, operative retention and actual uptake participate in one construction, allowing distributed implementation and overlapping functional roles. The resulting account distinguishes currently incorporated content from dormant traces, formative influences and capacities for later retrieval. Experience requires no additional experiential product or separate inner observer beyond the qualifying enactment itself. Scent, recollection and melody illustrate how familiarity, affective qualification, source attribution and temporal differentiation belong to an organized experiential field. Formal results distinguish partial content summaries from complete organization, separate structural similarity from numerical occurrence identity, and establish common-prefix invariance: later record loss does not erase an earlier experiencing occurrence. A further factorization result states the compatibility requirement when the account is jointly applied with SPC-2’s complete predictive account of phenomenal organization. The contribution is a conditional constitutive account of experience within a qualifying unit. Its principles and realization requirements are explicit; it does not claim to derive a universal rule for selecting experiencing units. It specifies how the complete enacted organization constitutes the occurrence and how interpreted contributions belong to its current field.
