The Demiurge Framework: Emergent Multicellular Predation and Morphogenesis from Mesoscale Prebiotic Thermodynamics
A persistent bottleneck in origin-of-life computational biology is the "Mesoscale Explanatory Gap": ab initio quantum chemistry and all-atom molecular dynamics are computationally confined to femtosecond scales ($\sim 10^{-12}$ s) and tens of angstroms, while traditional artificial life models rely on non-physical heuristics (e.g., boids, kinematic automata) devoid of mass conservation and thermodynamic dissipation. Here, we present **The Demiurge Framework**, a mesoscale, first-principles computational platform demonstrating the spontaneous, unscripted transition from an open, non-equilibrium CHONPS (Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Sulfur, with Fe, Si, and Ti catalysts) thermal-gradient environment to predatory, multicellular proto-bilaterians. Beyond terrestrial biochemistry, the platform provides an **Extensible Universal Stoichiometric Engine**, enabling arbitrary user-defined chemical elements (hypothetical, synthetic, and non-terrestrial) and planetary-scale geochemical regimes (Titan cryo-hydrocarbons, Europa subglacial brine, Venusian supercritical fluid, and Chondritic baths). The framework integrates:1. An analytical kinematic hydrothermal convection field governed by Speer-Rona plume dynamics and Rayleigh-Bénard downwelling;2. An open chemical registry supporting arbitrary elemental valences $V$, electronegativities $\chi$, and Pauling-Arrhenius bond kinetics;3. Vesicular compartmentalization driven by Tanford-Israelachvili critical micelle concentration (CMC) and evaluated via Tibor Gánti’s Chemoton closure criterion;4. Spontaneous gastrulation governed by René Thom’s cusp catastrophe ($4u^3 + 27v^2 \le 0$);5. Neuromotor coordination driven by Piezo-type mechanotransduction, electrotonic gap junctions, and spike-timing-dependent plasticity (STDP);6. Phagotrophic predation governed by Michaelis-Menten vacuolar lysis and Lindeman trophic efficiency. To establish a reproducible metric for open-ended evolution, we introduce the **Prebiotic Complexity Benchmark (PCB-18: Phase I Reference Trajectory)** — an 18-milestone verification suite tracking macroscopic phase transitions from inorganic dimers to cognitive bilaterian predation, serving as the benchmark foundation for Phase II macro-ecological diversification. Operating as a data-oriented, zero-garbage-collection Go engine at 60 FPS on standard consumer hardware, the architecture decouples immutable thermodynamic substrate physics from an exploratory, agentic "Demiurge" layer operating via the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
