Understanding diagnostic challenges and identifying priorities to tackle antimicrobial resistance in conflict zones

Armed conflict is a key driver of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Diagnostics are critical tools for limiting the impact of AMR where resources are limited. We analyse how conflict shifts the needs and deliverability of AMR diagnostics and identify opportunities to strengthen scope and capacity in these settings with persistent state-delivered health governance and policy. Key priorities include optimisation of robust diagnostic processing, workload and data sharing tools, and procurement policies suitable for resource-limited settings, including linked electronic workload and data-sharing tools with offline options, to support delivery of individual patient care, infection prevention and control, and surveillance.
