Two Strong Optical Flare Candidates in Gliese 841 A from NASA TESS Sector 105
This paper identifies two strong optical flare candidates in public two minute NASA TESS observations of the Gliese 841 A aperture during Sector 105. The events peak on 20 and 25 June 2026 in the TDB time scale and reach 7.62% and 11.09% above the local baseline in corrected photometry. Their nominal equivalent durations are 179.69 and 365.22 seconds. The second event has approximately twice the equivalent duration of the first across all tested baseline combinations. Both brightenings persist before pipeline correction and produce compact difference images near the target. Pipeline correction changes equivalent duration by less than 1.3%, while baseline choice produces larger measurement shifts. These reproducible measurements cover observations beyond the Sector 93 limit of the cited flare catalog and provide cases for testing transient preservation and flare integration. The analysis was informed by correspondence with 12 scientists, including technical consultations with the TESS Science Support Center and the TESS Science Processing Operations Center manager at NASA Ames. The supporting research archive contains event photometry, measurement tables, scientific figures, five analysis programs, provenance, software versions and the data needed to reproduce the reported measurements. The updated manuscript acknowledges Jon M. Jenkins for technical guidance on the TESS diagnostics, mission acknowledgments and pipeline references.
