The Will as an Infomational Field: A Physicalist Formulation of Consciousness
This paper proposes the Physicalist Dualism of the Will (PDW) as a theoretical model of consciousness formulated in terms of a causal informational field. The model integrates ideas from process philosophy, interactionist theories of mind, dual-aspect monism, integrated information theory, Orch-OR, and the thermodynamics of information. Within the model, consciousness is represented by an informational vector field, whereas will is represented by a scalar potential that directs informational dynamics toward coherent states. Exploratory numerical simulations illustrate field organization, entropy-like relaxation, matter–information coupling, dissipative dynamics, and oscillatory behavior on time scales associated with the gamma range. These simulations do not constitute empirical validation of a consciousness field, quantum coherence in microtubules, or Orch-OR. Instead, they provide a phenomenological and computational framework for generating quantitative hypotheses that could be tested using neurophysiological, molecular, and behavioral data.
