Innovative Strategies for Promoting Lifelong Fitness and Wellness Through Culturally Responsive and Inclusive Practices
This article integrates Self-Determination Theory, Social Cognitive Theory, and Critical Race Theory to propose innovative strategies for promoting lifelong fitness and wellness in physical education (PE). These strategies align with the SHAPE America National Physical Education Standards, which aim to develop physically literate individuals, and can empower diverse students as they shift the focus from weight-centric metrics to holistic well-being. Physical education can be a transformative force for health equity and social justice.
