Keeping Crocodiles in Zoos

My name is Sarah, I am 29 years old, and I am French. Since a young age, I have been passionate about reptiles. I have been active in this field for 15 years now. I started working with crocodiles in 2018, at the beginning of my career as an animal caretaker. My favorite crocodilian is the Tomistoma schlegelii. My commitment to research and conservation led me to attend my first ECNM (European Crocodile Networking Meeting) in 2018 in France. This event was a turning point in my career as I met my two future employers there. I worked at the Périgord Noir Aquarium, where I discovered medical training. I established a protocol that allowed visitors to be included in each exercise with the animals safely. Thanks to this, I was able to raise public awareness about reptiles and show that crocodilians are intelligent and each has its own personality.
