HSV-1 Encephalitis Presenting With Multifocal Extra-temporal Hemorrhagic Lesions in an Infant

We report an infant with HSV-1 encephalitis presenting with multifocal extra-temporal hemorrhagic lesions and complete temporal lobe sparing on neuroimaging. This case highlights the importance of considering herpes simplex encephalitis and initiating empirical acyclovir therapy even in the absence of the characteristic temporal pattern.
