Low Stack Pressure Anode Interfaces in Sulfide‐Based All‐Solid‐State Batteries With Lithium Plating

Low stack pressure is becoming a decisive criterion for the practical deployment of sulfide‐based all‐solid‐state batteries (ASSBs). In high‐energy configurations such as lithium metal and anode‐less cells, stack pressure is not merely a packaging variable: it sustains solid–solid contact, suppresses stripping‐induced void accumulation, and moderates the current localization that triggers filamentary lithium growth. This review summarizes and critically compares recent low stack pressure anode‐interface strategies, beginning with the pressure‐dependent mechanisms of wetting, void evolution, lithium nucleation, and filament initiation. The materials literature is organized into conversion‐derived and lithiophilic seed layers, spatially programmed bilayers, dynamic seed‐generation chemistries, porous three‐dimensional scaffolds, and mechanically adaptive networks. Particular attention is given to the trade‐offs among interlayer thickness, transport resistance, lithium‐storage volume, mechanical recovery, parasitic reactivity, and manufacturability. The reviewed evidence shows that robust low‐pressure operation generally requires the integration of chemical, architectural, and mechanical functions rather than optimization of nominal stack pressure or lithiophilicity alone.
