Consciousness as Evolutionary Transformation: A Hypothesis of Resonance and Pattern Transmission

This paper presents a theoretical hypothesis at the intersection of philosophy of mind and empirical research on anomalous states. Its aim is to propose a conceptual framework that connects existing anomalies and recent studies with the idea of consciousness as evolving information. The paper draws on evolutionary cosmopsychism. Unlike the classical version, where the evolution of consciousness is described as a spiritual process, here it is considered as the accumulation and restructuring of information through the physical body. As empirical anomalies that do not fit the strictly materialist model of "the brain creates consciousness," the following are cited: cases of nonlocal perception during near-death experiences (van Lommel, 2025), experimental indications of quantum entanglement in the brain synchronized with consciousness (Kerskens & López Pérez, 2026), the phenomenon of terminal lucidity in severe organic brain lesions (Moreira-Almeida, 2025), as well as cases of children remembering past lives (Stevenson). The paper proposes a hypothesis combining the idea of consciousness as a fundamental property (cosmopsychism) with an information-energy interpretation that considers consciousness as information accumulated through interaction with the physical body, together with the energy that supports this information. Unlike models where consciousness either arises exclusively from neural activity or remains static after death, I venture to suggest that the physical body performs the function of an instrument: it creates conditions for the formation of new connections, which allows information to evolve.
